News
• Soleil MetalArts t-shirts are now available!
• Garghoul made his debut at the Florida Sculptors Guild show at the Casselberry Firehouse on October 23, 2010.
• My artwork was recently featured on The Gardener's Eden, a great online gardening journal. Thanks Michaela!
• You can see a lot of in-process photos of recent projects on my Facebook fan page! Just search for Soleil MetalArts.
• I displayed "Bud Vase I - Irises" and "Bud Vase II - Vincas" at the Orlando Museum of Art 1st Thursday show for May 2010, called "Go Large".
• I displayed "With All My Heart", "Twinings", and "Unity" at the Orlando Museum of Art 1st Thursday show for February 2010, called appropriately "Art from the Heart".
• I displayed "Ribbons Birdbath" and also "Queen Triggerfish" at the recent Interiors/Exteriors show at the Orlando Museum of Art's First Thursday. This monthly themed exhibition showcases local artists in a variety of mediums.
• I recently acquired some old traffic light lenses and I'm figuring out ways to incorporate them into my metal art. The first applications have been basins for birdbaths. Take a look in the birdbath gallery for some photos.
• "Garghoul", a gargoyle garden sculpture is now complete and featured in my sculpture gallery. A lot of work, a lot of fun, and now the protector of my garden, scaring away all the critters that want to eat my flowers!
• Elephants...certainly one of my favorites in the animal kingdom. Noble, matriarchal, intelligent...what's not to like? When friends asked me to create an elephant-centric wall sculpture for them, it was a pleasure to conceive and fabricate Carpe Diem, which is now featured in my sculpture gallery.
• What's in a name? Soleil (Sō-lay) is the French word for "sun". The act of working metal evokes the sun not only because of the heat and sparks, but also because it involves passion, power, and knowledge, all part of the mythology of the sun.
